Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and energetic Radio On-Air Personality with a passion for broadcasting and a keen sense for news to join our team as a Part-Time News Assistant. This unique hybrid role combines live on-air hosting with support for our newsroom. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, has excellent communication skills, and is ready to bring personality, professionalism, and integrity to every broadcast.  The right person understands the interaction between the talent, clients, and audience at live remotes, appearances, station events, and on-air are a vital part of the station’s ratings and success.

Key Responsibilities:

On-Air Personality Duties:

    Host live radio segments, engaging the audience with compelling content, music, and personality.

    Deliver weather and promotional content with clarity and enthusiasm.

    Interact with listeners via phone, social media, and live events.

    Promote station events, contests, and sponsor initiatives both on-air and through digital platforms.

    Prepare and research show material, current trends, entertainment news, and local happenings.

    Adhere to FCC regulations and station guidelines for content and conduct.

News Assistant Duties:

    Assist in gathering, writing, and editing news stories for broadcast and digital platforms.

    Monitor wire services, social media, and public sources for breaking news.

    Conduct interviews, fact-check, and support the news director as needed.

    Record and edit audio for newscasts using digital audio software.

    Collaborate with the news team to ensure accuracy, fairness, and timeliness in all reports.

    Energetic, confident, and articulate with a distinct on-air presence.

    Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.

    Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

    Creative thinker with a good sense of timing, humor, and audience engagement.

    Professionalism, reliability, and a strong sense of journalistic ethics.

Requirements:

    Previous on-air radio or broadcast experience preferred.

    Solid understanding of journalism principles and news writing.

    Proficient in the use of audio editing software and broadcast equipment.

    Strong knowledge of local news and community events.

    Flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

    High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in Communications, Journalism, or related field preferred.

    Must be reliable.

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    Knowledge of all applicable FCC rules and regulations.

    Must be a team player and work well with management and staff at all levels.

    Ability to successfully execute station events and remotes.

    Able to relate to the audience and have a strong listener interaction.

    Public speaking skills and ability to interact with listeners and clients in a public setting.

    Excellent problem-solving and prioritizing skills.

    Ability to multi-task and handle pressures and deadlines.

    Be a positive member of a tight-knit team.

    Must be creative and innovative with a strong work ethic.

    Must have a valid driver’s license
